Ido Ariel

Dr. Ido Ariel is a pianist and accompanist, vocal coach, lecturer and translator, one of the leading figures in the field of the art song in Israel. 

He is the founder and director of 'Lieder in Pita-bread' – an Israeli home for the art song, including concerts and other activities that bring together the classical art-song and the Israeli couture.

Dr. Ido Ariel is a pianist and accompanist, vocal coach, lecturer and translator, one of the leading figures in the field of the art song in Israel.

He is the founder and director of 'Lieder in Pita-bread' – an Israeli home for the art song, including concerts and other activities that bring together the classical art-song and the Israeli couture.

 

Ido is a senior lecturer at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he chaired the Vocal Department and served as Dean of Students.

He founded and directed the "Singing Words" and "Shira-Shir" concert series, which presented classical as well as Israeli art songs performed by prominent Israeli singers.

He has accompanied many acclaimed singers in Israel and abroad, and has served as director and artistic advisor of related concert series.

As a pianist, Ido collaborates with prominent Israeli musicians. His teaching activities include lectures and masterclasses in Europe, the U.S, and Israel, where many of his students have become distinguished performers.

 

Ido has been continuously active in translation-for-singing of the art-song repertoire, publishing and performing art songs in new Hebrew translations.

Ido is an award-winning graduate of the Beer-Sheva Conservatory, The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and The Royal College of Music, London, where he specialized in the coaching and performance of Arnold Schoenberg's songs. Other areas of performance and research include opera, rhetoric, and the Israeli art-song.
